I absolutely did not invent the idea of theme and variations. If you haven't heard of it, it's been going on since the 14th century (according to Wikipedia) and far more talented musicians than I (we're talking names like Mozart and Beethoven) have written variations. I wanted to take a crack at it with some random theme I wrote.
